When appropriate, the direct bonding of the tooth colored composite to the natural tooth can both strengthen and add beauty to the tooth.

Bonding is also used to restore back teeth when the restorations are relatively small. There has been a great deal of debate over the use of amalgam fillings and many dentists are switching over to the exclusive use of composites for filling materials. Dr. Schulze has not used mercury containing amalgam fillings for over 10 years, and his talent and artistry in placing invisible looking restorations is well known on Marco Island.

When the restoration is too large for the placement of a direct restoration, a tooth colored lab processed inlay or onlay can often be placed instead of a full crown, restoring the beauty and strength of the tooth.
