Root Canal Therapy in Marco Island
Having a root canal at Island Tower Dentistry involves a removal of the pulp tissue to remove the infection and save the tooth. A dentist will do so by drilling into the tooth pulp area to remove it. Once the infection is removed it is filled and sealed to prevent any future infections from occurring. Typically crowns are recommended after this procedure to prevent any breaking and cracking.
Signs You May Need a Root Canal
- Severe tooth pain when applying pressure or chewing.
- Darkening or discoloration of the tooth.
- Swelling, redness, or tenderness of the gums.
Your Root Canal Procedure
Root canals can range in completion times, depending on the severity of the individual situation. Performed under local anesthetic, or oral conscious sedation, if you elect it, root canals are a pain-free and low risk procedure. Recovering from a root canal depends on the amount of visits necessary to complete the procedure. Most do not require more than two visits to our offices.
